Summer 2011The Eurasia Center is delighted to have a team of dedicated Interns who help coordinate and manage the programs of the Eurasia Center. The Eurasia Center strongly believes in giving its interns a hands-on approach, and many of them are afforded the opportunity to apply their skills directly to a project that parallels their interests or major. In many ways, it is our interns who determine and shape the pace and structure of our programs. Scroll below to learn more about them!
Fall 2007 Interns

Monica Wojcik is a sophomore at the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She is majoring in International Political Economy and is pursuing a Certificate in Russian and East European Studies. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois and is excited to spend her college experience in Washington, DC. Monica first developed an interest in international politics and economics when she traveled to Rome, Italy in the Summer of 2005. There she attended the John Paul II Summer University Program about the impact of Poland and Polish culture on European affairs. She has also traveled to Poland several times. She is particularly interested in relations between Eastern and Central Europe and the European Union.
When not studying at a finishing school, Ted enjoys playing music (he plays the mandolin, accordion, and the keyboard) and participating in Georgetown's prestigious Philonomosian Debating Society, in which he holds the coveted position of Censor. In addition, Ted has a job as a temp at Ohlin-Merton Window Solutions and is working with Georgetown Television to create the highly anticipated "Georgetown Ballaz," a show about the trials and tribulations of Georgetown's premier street-ball team.
In her free time, Monica enjoys ballroom dancing as part of the Georgetown University Ballroom Dance Team. She is involved in Georgetown’s Polish Club, promoting academic, social, and cultural opportunities for students interested in Poland and Polish culture. Monica is also involved in Georgetown’s North American Invitational Model United Nations Conference this year where she is ecstatic to serve as a Chair of the European Union Committee.

Ankit Sheth is currently a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University, Washington D.C. USA. He is majoring in International Affairs with a double concentration in International Development Studies and African Studies. At the George Washington University, Ankit has been learning about the African Diaspora, United States Foreign Policy in the 20th century, as well as the economies of "third world" countries. Upon graduation he will have a dual minor in Arabic and History. He is fluent in English and Gujarati, one of India's regional languages, along with an conversational ability in India's national language Hindi. He was born in New Jersey and raised near New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated in May of 2006 from Saint Martin's Episcopal School in Metairie, Louisiana. He was a President for the Current Affairs Forum, member of the Honor Roll, and played goalie for the state runner-up soccer team.
Outside of academia, Ankit co-founded the George Washington University Cricket Club. He is Co-President of the club which entails to not only organizing events, practices, and games, but also teaching newcomers how to play the game. He is an avid sports fan with his favorite football team being the New Orleans Saints. Along with sports, Ankit enjoys traveling back home to New Orleans as well as to other destinations such as New York City, India, and Mexico. He plans to study abroad on the African continent during either his junior or senior year of college.

Adam V Graham graduated from the University of Florida, where he majored in Political Science and Philosophy. At the University of Florida Adam participated in study abroad programs in France, Austria, and Costa Rica. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree, Adam joined the Peace Corps. He served in the Republic of Kazakhstan as an Educational Volunteer for two years. There he provided in-service education for middle and high school teachers. Another significant duty included promoting a better understanding of American culture, history, and economics among the local population. During his time in Kazakhstan he developed a passion for International Affairs, especially concerning Asian political issues.
Since returning to the United States Adam is actively pursuing a master's degree in International Affairs with a specialization in Comparative and Regional studies of Asia in the School of International Service at American University. Adam is fluent in Kazak and English, and is currently studying both Chinese and Japanese. His career plan is to join the United States Foreign Service and represent the United States in Asia. In his free time Adam works with university based organizations, such as Amnesty International and the Project for Peace and Empowerment. He also enjoys attending lectures and discussions on any topics of international relations.

Si Sun is a junior at the Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University. He is majoring in International Political Economy, with a minor of Certificate in International Business Diplomacy. He originally comes from Shanghai, China and is excited to pursue an academic career in Washington, DC. Si has developed his interest on international politics and economics when he became deeply involved in Model United Nations activities during high school. He is particularly interested in the interrelationship between economic development and political liberalization.
His travel experience includes China, Russia, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and etc. At present he is having a full-year study-abroad program in the Department of Economics in London School of Economics and Political Science. Si is fluent in Chinese, and has passed the Georgetown Proficiency Exam in German. His career goal may be law with a concentration on international trade.
In his free time, Si enjoys community service via the national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega as well as various extracurricular activities promoting Sino-US relations. During the summer of 2008, he taught English in rural China for over a month. This summer Si is having an internship with a regional commercial bank and a local law firm in China.
