EVENTS NOVEMBER 2025

The America-Eurasia Center

created a new, exciting Foreign Policy Series in Washington, DC:

Preventing Nuclear War and Determining a New Strategy for Peace?

On Thursday, November 20th

At The America-Eurasia Center (AEC)

The AEC and Arms Control Association

Made successful presentations regarding the need for

developing new strategies for peace on the international level,

which would be beneficial in enhancing the security of all nations and peoples.

PREVENTING NUCLEAR WAR  is the most important issue of our day, especially given the fact that we live in Washington, DC, one of the most targeted cities in the world. Will our future be secure, our children’s future?

What should have been a century of peace after the end of the Cold War, started by Reagan and Gorbachev, has unraveled, and now we are faced with a hidden arms race. It is an unbridled arms race as China and North Korea expand their nuclear forces, as hypersonic missiles evolve and are forcing a new arms race in outer space. Our panel will discuss these and many more developments. Russia's war in Ukraine has also opened the possibility of war between Russia and NATO. Russia, China, the US, and many other nations are now involved in an East vs West global strategic competition, which may provoke nuclear war. We wish to engage our audience about their perspectives on these issues as well.

Featured Speaker: Daryl G. Kimball has been Executive Director of the Arms Control Association (ACA) and publisher and contributor for the organization’s monthly journal, Arms Control Today, since September 2001. For more than two decades at ACA, Kimball has led the organization’s education, research, and policy advocacy campaigns on a range of issues, including cancellation of new nuclear weapons programs, negotiation and ratification of the 2010 New START agreement, opposition to the controversial U.S.-India nuclear cooperation agreement, the conclusion of the 2015 P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran, efforts to promote entry into force of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and strengthen implementation of the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, the negotiation of the 2014 Arms Trade Treaty, and strengthening the taboo against chemical weapons. He is a frequent expert source for reporters and policymakers, and has written and spoken extensively about nuclear arms control, disarmament, non-proliferation, and the effects of weapons production, testing, and use. Other Nuclear Arms Control Experts will present.
