About Us

Founded in 1988, The Eurasia Center, formerly The Center for Soviet-American Relations, is an American non-profit, nongovernmental, educational organization dedicated to improving American knowledge and understanding of Eurasia (Europe and Asia). The Eurasia Center has been granted public charity status in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We have announced our new name on July 4, 2022, as The America-Eurasia Center is more reflective of our mission. Since its early days, The Center supported the democratic movements of the peoples of Eastern Europe and nations of the former Soviet Union as they heroically stood firm, protested, and with the power of the people broke their Communist regimes that chained them with tyrannical governments, control of freedom of movement, expression, and assembly, but more importantly deprived them of freedom of choice of representative leaders at the ballot box. The Iron Curtain, Berlin Wall, and the system that the Soviet Union created imploded within itself, as it was incapable of reform, the coup in Russia by the hardliners in August 1991 resulted not only in the end of system but the birth of a new democracy within Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States in Eurasia. Since then, The Eurasia Center has been tracking not only the great strides that these new nations have made on the road to building democratic nations throughout Eurasia but also the development of authoritarian rulers as they hijacked the chances of these nations and societies develop truly representative governments for their nations. The great lesson of these years is while America may hope on an economic level to engage and progress forward in developing progressive economic relations with these nations, it is important to highlight the bad behavior of regimes that not only repress the basic freedoms of its peoples but rob their citizenry of the basic democratic freedom to vote and have independent choices at the ballot boxes which is enshrined in their constitutions.

The America-Eurasia Center promotes positive relations between America and the nations of Eurasia through its Nine Programs for Eurasia: Civil Society, International Security/Peace, International Education/The University of Eurasia, The American-Eurasian Art Foundation/The National Museum of American-Eurasian Art & Culture Project, The America-Eurasian Business Coalition, Charitable Program for Eurasia, Environmental Program, US-Eurasia Regional Programs, and The American-Eurasian Women's Program.

It has also been instrumental in founding The American-Eurasian Business Coalition as a bridge which promotes positive economic relations between America and the nations of Europe and Asia (Eurasia). In addition, through its Regional Programs of Eurasia, The America-Eurasia Center builds positive relations with the Gulf States, Europe, Central Asia, Russia, South Asia, East Asia and South East Asia. These Regional Programs serve as a bridge to promote peace, understanding, and prosperity among nations.

Located in Washington, DC, The America-Eurasia Center partners with a number of officials, organizations, and think tanks around the world. Its educational programs are unique in that they produce future leaders and research teams that go on to continue to promote positive relations. Building positive relations with other nations and institutions has been the hallmark of The America-Eurasia Center. Together with The American-Eurasian Business Coalition, it has organized The Silk Road Summit, Conferences on the BRICS Nations, European Union, and Doing Business with Eurasia. It continues to publish Reports and Briefs about important issues regarding political, economic and social developments in Eurasia and how they relate to America.
